Deschutes Canyon Area Golden Eagle Nest Surveys
Friends and Neighbors of the Deschutes Canyon Area (FANs) volunteers monitor golden eagle activity along the Deschutes River canyon near Crooked River Ranch. During February through May, FANs volunteers are observing nesting areas to determine how many are occupied by breeding pairs. From May through July, nesting areas are revisited to determine nesting outcome and age of eaglets. Our results are shared with Prineville BLM Wildlife Biologist Larry Ashton.
