It's HERE!!!
FANs Guide to the Common Birds of the Deschutes Canyon Area
By Marilynne Keyser, Communications Coordinator, Friends and Neighbors of the Deschutes Canyon (FANs)
This brilliant field guide by bird expert Chuck Gates is now available. Click HERE to order!
Chuck’s interest in birds began with a Natural History course in college but really took off after college. He was teaching at Culver High School (his alma mater) when a freak storm blew hundreds of gulls into the local football field. Community members came to him for an explanation of why this happened. Of course, he did not know. His pride bruised, he set out to find out all he could about birds. Almost a lifetime later, that journey continues. Here is sample from the book of Chuck’s extensive bird knowledge, his sense of humor, and his fantastic bird photograph!
This is the third field guide produced by FANs this year. Both the Common Weed and Common Native Plant guides are available for purchase on our website, at our programs, and at independent book stores in Jefferson, Deschutes and Crook Counties. Soon, we will be selling them at FANs Storefront near the golf course at Crooked River Ranch.
